Which months are busiest?
The baseline is 2 months ahead for digital signage and 3–4 months ahead for a station poster. Add to that in the months below, and remember the clock starts once you have agency permission, not when you decide to book.
September, October and December carry the densest concentration of birthdays among the biggest groups. September is the tightest: nine major birthdays inside three weeks, with two shared dates. December is the hardest month to book advertising in, because idol birthdays compete with year-end retail campaigns for the same screens.
| Month | Fan-ad demand in Japan | How early to start |
|---|---|---|
| September | Very high — clustered dates | Well before the baseline |
| October | Moderate — well spread out | Baseline is enough |
| November | High — ramping into year-end | Well before the baseline |
| December | Very high — competes with retail | Earliest of the year |
| January–August | Moderate | Baseline is enough |
How to run a birthday ad for your bias
A birthday ad — senil ad (생일광고) in Korean, 応援広告 (ouen koukoku) in Japanese — is a fan-funded advertisement placed on a real station poster or digital screen to celebrate an idol's birthday. It started in Korea and is now equally established in Japan, where Tokyo's Shin-Okubo, Shibuya and Shinjuku are the most requested locations.
The part most international fans do not realise: you do not need to live in Japan, or read Japanese, to book one. Applications, design checks and installation are handled in English.
| Format | Who can book it | Apply by | Prices from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Digital signage / outdoor vision | An individual can book alone | 2 months before | About ¥13,000 |
| Station poster | A group of 2 or more, with a short group profile | 3–4 months before | About ¥16,000 |
Two things to settle before you book. Every fan support ad needs permission from the idol or their agency, and you will be asked for proof of it — a screenshot of the approval email or DM — when you order. Ads featuring anyone under 18 cannot be accepted. If permission and finished artwork are both already in hand, digital signage can sometimes go live in about 2 days.

Frequently asked questions
Which K-pop idol's birthday is today?
Check the month table above, then open the detailed list for that month. September, October and November have full day-by-day pages.
Which month has the most K-pop birthdays?
Among the biggest groups, September is the densest — nine major birthdays in three weeks, including two dates shared by two idols each.
Do K-pop idols use Korean age or international age?
International age. Korea officially adopted the international system in June 2023, so ages listed in older fan posts may be one or two years higher than the current standard.
What is a senil ad?
A fan-funded birthday advertisement. Senil comes from the Korean 생일 (saeng-il), meaning birthday. In Japan the same practice is called 応援広告 (ouen koukoku), or "support advertising".
How much does a K-pop birthday ad in Japan cost?
On the Oshi-Ad store, digital signage and outdoor vision placements start at about ¥13,000 and station posters at about ¥16,000, priced in Japanese yen. Cost varies widely by city and display length, so each listing shows its own price and period.
Can I book a birthday ad in Japan from overseas?
Yes. Booking, payment, design review and installation are handled remotely and in English — you do not need to be in Japan or speak Japanese.
